Post Birthday and Pre Easter Fun!

Isa had a sleep over on her birthday. They went to sleep pretty easily. The next day Marc made his famous pancakes and added M&Ms for the girls.

Jimmy got some too. Jimmy gets very upset if he sees food and it’s not given to him immediately so we often give him something to make the wait a little more bearable. This time raisins gave us a few extra minutes.

We celebrated Isa’s birthday with the family and local aunts and uncles and cousins. Here, Rosie and Isla are catching up.

Here the girls are talking about all the latest fashions. If they would just fill me in…

I mentioned something about my shoes and this is the response I got. Honesty is nice, but can be cruel too!

Check out Al’s shirt. It’s so awesome.

I love how little kids can make a couch look big.

Isla is all smiles.

Rosie and Isla are my favorite subjects. I must have taken 50 pictures of them. They are the cutest.

2011 April 17th and more1

Speaking of Rosie. She’s does a great army crawl and moves from room to room. If there is paper on the ground, she will find it, and put it in her mouth. I found red construction paper in her diaper. Sigh! She gets very mad when you walk away from her and wants you to look at her nonstop and smile and make funny noises. She wants to skip baby food and would prefer to eat real food. She’s eaten a few graham crackers, watermelon, and pear. She finally got snotty, but so far it’s not a big deal. I hope it stays that way.

She’s eating a graham cracker. I’m not sure how much of it she actually swallows. I’m guessing about 10%.

We have dyed some eggs this week and plan to dye more soon. We only had 8 eggs and Isa was not going to let me do anything until we got to work.

Here Jimmy can’t get enough of Isa. Jimmy is the easiest kid to make laugh. People always comment and say things like your mama is funny but really Jimmy just needs a sound that is not a word to start laughing. Isa LOVES it and will perform for nearly an hour almost every night till Marc and I come in and say ENOUGH!

At school Jimmy spilled some juice on himself so they changed his clothes and found him some girl jeans. They are pretty cute. I hope he doesn’t get mad at me for putting this photo on here.

Jimmy’s been doing so great at school. He climbed a rope ladder with his aide today. I think the park is going to be HELL  this summer. At least I will get a good work out, but I’m sure there will be more times when I would prefer not to get one.

One of Jimmy Jims favorite songs is Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.  Could these BE any more perfect?

Isa couldn’t help but give him a HUGE kiss.

This is what I call PURE JOY. I’m so lucky to have him in my house!

And this is PURE JOY part two. Dance Party!

Today we got Easter gifts from Grandma Jo and Grandma Bebe. What a treat! First up, Easter Egg Chalk! Notice Jimmy there in the background. He’s in Bumbo Jail. He licked the steps, ate the chalk, and ate our freshly fertilized dirt. God only knows how many chemicals are in that. What am I going to do this summer?

After dinner we ate some treats from Grandma Bebe. No pics were taken but everyone, including Rosie, ate some alphabet crackers. The bunny Pez will be saved till Easter.

Isa made me a bouquet of flowers. I love how she used her hair bow to hold it together.

I will end with some Isa and Jimmy school artwork.

Isa is a 5 year old!

At her 5 year old well visit, Isa was 401/4 inches tall (10-25%) and weighed 33 pounds (10%)

Isa woke up this morning at 6am and went straight to work opening a present. When I asked her to wait till Daddy woke up she informed me that it was her birthday and she gets to do whatever she wants. Marc wanted Isa to open her present so he got up and helped Isa open her first gift.

Here Isa is doing her fist bump explosion. She told me once that she was going to show all the kids in her class the fist bump explosion until they all started doing it. I have no idea if she succeeded with that or not.

Later in the morning she found a package from her Grandma Bebe and PawPaw Mark. She gladly opened that one as well.

Isa went to ballet class this morning and to an early afternoon birthday party. Then it was time to celebrate Isa’s 5th birthday at Pump It Up! It was a lot of fun for the kiddos and some of the parents too!

The best part of the party was that all the big kids were girls. They all sat at one big table and had one big conversation. They all asked different questions like, if you take ballet raise your hand, or if you like cake raise your hand. It was relatively quiet in the pizza/cake room because the girls actually listened to one another.

I just asked them who likes Pump It Up!

Happy Birthday to Isa!

Isa’s cousin is spending the night and they are trying to go to sleep while I sit at the door and write this post.  In the pic below they just started a movie but thankfully they got bored and only watched like 10 minutes.

Isa had a great birthday. It started to snow as we walked into Pump It Up which made me so happy. There’s nothing like bad weather during an indoor party that makes you feel like it’s worth every cent!

We are back…at the doctor’s office :(

We had a great time in Minnesota. On Saturday we went back to the Mall of America and Marc took the kids to the Aquarium while I shopped for a dress. I found one to wear to my brother’s wedding and Marc and the kids had fun. Marc and Isa rode a few rides too while Jimmy and I sang songs. We went to a great engagement party and met a ton of Minnesotans that have Minnesotan accents. It was great and then we visited a great friend of ours that we met in Mexico at the orphanage and met her cutie son, Oliver. Then we had a horrible night sleep (Rosie wanted to party from 3-5am and then when she finally went to sleep, Jimmy got up), and then we drove all day. It took us 8 hours to drive home yesterday but we made it. We arrived to E-town and it was 80 degrees. We played in our backyard till it was time to go to bed. So nice!

I woke up today and went to Jimmy’s school for next year and talked about him for thirty minutes. What could be better? Then I got my car cleaned, dropped off 6 trash bags worth of clothes and toys to the rummage sale, picked up Isa, returned a bunch of dresses I bought to wear to my brother’s wedding that I’m not going to wear and bought Isa’s dress for the wedding. She’s going to be a flower girl. I went to Janie and  Jack and found a dress that was originally 159 dollars on sale for 59 dollars. And, it’s perrrrrrrrrrrrfect! I wish I had a photo of her in it. I meant to take one but kept getting distracted. After arriving home, we ate lunch and then I started to get organized, unpack, clean up etc. Jimmy decided not to nap. When I went in to get him I found out that he had pooped, removed his pants and diaper, and spread poop all over everything. I guess it’s time to start potty training. I put him in the bath tub and washed all the sheets, blankets, bed, wall etc. When that was done we ate a snack and headed off to Maguire’s 5th birthday. Rosie and Jimmy fell asleep in the car so I took Isa in and then played on my phone till they woke up. When I went to get Jimmy out of the car I noticed that he had a bloody ear. I thought NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I called the doctor and set up an appointment for 6pm. Then we went to the party, I stuffed myself with food, and then went to the doctor. I know there are worse things but I have been to the doctor so many times and those copays add up fast and I just hate going. After confirming the ear infection, I went to get the meds, and the pharmacist gave me a ten dollar gift card because I had filled 10 prescriptions in 2 1/2 weeks (given there were a few times when I doubled up with antibiotics and drops or antibiotics and steroids but still insane!).

We are now all home. The kids are all in bed and I am tired and I have no cute photos to share besides the one above.

We have been busy! After taking Jimmy to the doctor AGAIN and then going to the pharmacy AGAIN my brother Jonny and I drove all three kids to M-e-soda. That’s how Isa pronounces it. She asked Jonny if there would be juice and milk in Minnesota. She already knows there is lots of soda in M-e-soda. We stopped after one hour of driving. I nursed Rosie and Jonny took the kids inside the gas station to get some cookies. The next hour Rosie cried but then she fell asleep and all was quiet for the rest of the trip. It took exactly 6 1/2 hours to get there. When we arrived at 12:15am, we were greeted by Lisa, her mom, and my parents. It was party time. At 1am, I forced the kids to bed but it took all of us awhile to calm down and go to sleep.

Today, we went to Mall of America. I have been once before but this time it was a completely different experience. Isa and I rode on lots of rides. Chaperones get to ride for free. Isn’t that the best deal ever? For once it pays to have a short kid!

the swings.

Our favorite ride was the log cabin water ride.  There is that moment of fear and excitement that is so awesome. I hate it when you can’t see the track below. It was super fun though and I think we were airborne for a second or two. We couldn’t stop smiling!

I’m not sure why Isa is about to cover Rosie’s ear but I’m guessing she had something top secret to say.

Silly Lisa and Rosie!

We went to April’s house, Lisa’s sister, and ate some yummy pizza.

Rosie is trying to start a new trend. She’s too cold without the sweater and too hot with it…with one arm out she’s just right.

Rosie loves Papa Mark!

Isa played in April’s backyard for a bit and discovered a puddle that was actually a pond. She stepped in and the water was deeper than her boots. It was a great adventure. Here Isa is running to tell us her amazing story.

Good night for now!

There are lots of people who complain about their mothers-in-law, but I am not one of them. My mother-in-law, Jo, is the best. She’s an awesome cook, watches my kids all the time, will run to the store for Tylenol (or anything), and is just fun. After she heard about my cough, turned to ear infection, and achiness  in general, she insisted I lie down for a whole day. And, she knows that the only way that is going to happen is if she watches the kids. This morning, the kids and I went over to her house around 8 and I lied down all day. Jo mentioned something about me being bored… Not even for a second! It was like being in heaven. I read a little, slept a little, read a little more and so on until it was dinner time.

After dinner we all said our goodbyes and went home. Not five minutes later, I was calling Jo freaking out because both of Jimmy’s hands were swollen and had big white bumps (like a big mosquito bite or something). It scared the living day lights out of me. I half expected the swelling to continue and wondered if I should call an ambulance.  After talking to Jo, it was decided to put some Benadryl on his hands and to call the pediatrician.  The pediatrician wasn’t too worried and said if it gets worse to go to the ER. Before I had hung up the phone, Jo was at my door. She’s like an angel and helped me out. Jimmy was calming down and so I got him ready for bed while Jo held Rosie. It was the best because Rosie started crying right when Jo got there and nobody wants to have two crying kids on their hands. All three kids got to bed quick and I lay back down to write this. Thank You so much, Jo. My day was a million times better because of you.
